The SmartEAR®+ CombiSense Sensor is an advanced product specifically designed for leak detection in water distribution networks. It is particularly suitable for use on main lines and plastic pipes (Water Distribution Network -WDN). It combines measurements of hydrophone acoustic, pressure, and water temperature in one sensor.

Water Monitoring Capabilities

The SmartEAR®+ CombiSense Sensor provides parallel measurement of acoustic, pressure, and water temperature data, designed specifically for leak detection in water distribution networks. It measures pressure from 0-16 bar with ±0.9% accuracy and temperature from -20°C to +80°C with ±2°C accuracy, offering precise environmental data.

Durable and Reliable Performance

The sensor is IP68 rated, ensuring water and dust resistance, and can withstand depths of up to 1.5 meters for up to 30 minutes. It operates within a temperature range of -20°C to +70°C. Built with stainless steel A4, PPH, and PPS materials, the sensor is designed for durability in harsh conditions.

Flexible Deployment and Communication

Deployment is simplified via the SmartEAR®-GO! app, available on Android and iOS, which supports real-time monitoring, firmware updates, and battery status checks. The sensor offers long-range communication through NB-IoT and CAT-M (Combi-Modem) and short-range communication via Bluetooth Low Energy. Data is securely transferred using the MQTT protocol.

Extended Battery Life and Data Storage

Powered by a 3.6 V, 13 Ah lithium battery, the sensor can last up to 9 years on a standard measurement profile. This includes pressure and temperature readings every 15 minutes and acoustic data every 5 minutes during specific hours, with data uploaded once daily. The sensor also features an 8 MB internal ring memory, following the FIFO principle, for reliable data storage.

Certifications and Compatibility

Certified for freshwater use with DVGW (EU) and NSF (USA/CAN) certifications, the sensor uses AES 128 encryption for secure communication. It is compatible with various mounting options, including magnet rings and thread fittings.

The SmartEAR®+ eC is housed in a compact, efficiently designed unit measuring 122mm (4.8in) in height and 69mm (2.7in) in diameter. It weighs only 450g (15.8oz) and can be easily mounted using the custom-made magnetic ring, threaded adapter, Loop, Storz, thread fittings, UF-Adaptor, thread adapter metric-imperial. An optional steel wire rope can be used as an anti-theft measure.

Installation and Deployment

SmartEAR®+ eC is quick and easy to install and, once connected to the Poseyedon cloud platform, it it takes regular measurements, which it then uploads to the Poseyedon cloud platform. It can be set for night measurement (between 2 AM and 4 AM), permanent measurement (every 15 minutes or hourly), or customized according to your system’s needs with freely selectable upload times and lengths of audio files.
